(Updated: 2025)
06/2025: Postcard Cabins has been acquired by Marriott Bonvoy! You will be redirected from the Postcard Cabins website to the Marriott Bonvoy website to complete and manage your bookings.
10/2024: Getaway House has been rebranded to Postcard Cabins! Same website, same relaxing escape and cabins, new name.
Postcard Cabins (formerly Getaway House) is a collection of tiny homes all over the U.S. under 2 hours outside of major cities, where you can trade your city life for a few nights of nature and tranquility. Getaway was founded by Jon Staff, who created this to do exactly that - Get. Away.
I already have a full-blown review of Postcard Cabins Dallas, where I talk more in-depth about what to expect inside your tiny house, including the amenities, style, comfort, and the check-in and check-out process. That review applies to Postcard Cabins Hill Country as well! The cabins and experience from booking to arriving at your cabin, to departing are the same. So I won’t bore you with those details all over again!

Postcard Cabins & Location Review
All of the Hill Country cabins are private and face the outside perimeter of the community. Being located in the Texas Hill Country, some of the tiny homes will have views of the hills, and some just of the local trees and greenery. Either way, the area is beautiful!
If you’ve read the Postcard Dallas cabin review, then you know all the details of the interior of the cabins. As a quick overview, though, each cabin includes:
Shower (with hot water)
Toilet
Bulk shampoo and body wash
Mini-fridge
2-burner stove
All the utensils and pans you’d need
Queen-size bed (with comfortable bedding)
A table with a chair
Landline phone
AC & heater
In addition to those luxuries, the cabin also comes with a deck of cards, a radio, books, lanterns, and pet accessories. You truly have everything you could need for your stay! Just bring yourself and a change of clothes, and Postcard Cabins takes care of the rest.
The road to the cabins is dirt, so drive slowly and avoid washing your car before heading here (I learned the hard way).
This Postcard Cabins community is just under 1 hour from central Austin and about 1 hour and 15 minutes from San Antonio in Wimberley, TX, a truly spectacular and exciting town in Central Texas. The perfect location for something like Postcard! Outside of your cabin, there is so much to do in town. Keep reading to learn about some must-do things and eats in the area!
Things to Do at Your Postcard Cabin
Unplug
Don’t bother bringing your laptops with you, Postcard Cabins have no Wi-Fi! The atmosphere encourages you to silence your phone or, better yet, turn it off and throw it into the cell phone lock box in the cabin. Unplugging from your devices is probably one of the most valuable actions you can take here.
Hike
The Postcard Cabins locations have at least one short trail within the community, and usually, others that may be a short drive from your cabin in the area. I will get to some of those options later in Wimberley!
Getting out and spending time on the trails, just you and nature, is such a healing and healthy experience.
Read a book
Turn off your brain and dive into a good book surrounded by silence and beauty. Your cabin has a small selection available, or bring your own book along.
Pitch a hammock
If you are lucky, your cabin will be surrounded by the perfect trees to pitch a hammock.
Roast marshmallows
You can’t have a glamping experience without roasting marshmallows over a fire. Good thing your Postcard Cabin comes with an outdoor fire pit, firewood, and fire starters!
Try your hand at cooking your meal over a fire
Get a fire going and cook a meal over the fire. We cooked eggs, vegan bacon, and assorted veggies over the fire. Postcard supplies the foil you need for this. (They ask that you don’t use their pans for cooking over a fire. Bring your own if you wish, or use foil!)
Meditate/yoga
Breathe in the fresh air and be one with nature by getting outside for a yoga or meditation session.
Journal
Bring along a journal and spend a few minutes in your day to reflect inward and jot down your thoughts. I spent about 20 minutes a day journaling each of the days I spent at Postcard Cabins.
Do nothing
Don’t think, don’t worry about tomorrow, don’t allow the negativity of the news, work, or your stress during your stay here. Just “be.” And if that means doing nothing and turning off your thoughts, do that! Nature is a healer.
